Forged Battalion is a real-time strategy game developed by Petroglyph Games and published by Team17. The game was released on Steam as early access on 16 January 2018, before its full release on 14 August 2018. The game shares many similarities in its mechanics with 8-Bit Armies, while the plot of the game is loosely based on the cancelled End of Nations. The main feature of the Forged Battalion is the player's ability to create their own faction and fully customize their units.
Plot[]
The game is set in the year 2057, when the Earth had been devastated by social and political unrest caused by climate change. When the world was on the verge of total collapse, a businessman named Milos Thymes stepped in and offered to restore peace and order. He had developed a revolutionary technology called the Modular Manufacturing Plant, which provided the potential for limitless resources, energy and manufacturing capacity.
In exchange for access to the MMP, Thymos demanded political control over any country that wanted it. Many were desperate for aid and took his offer, exchanging their sovereignty for supposed prosperity.
A decade after his rise, Thymos now rules the tyrannical Collective that has control over most of the globe, opposed by only a few scattered resistance cells. There are some territories that are outside the control of the Collective. The player is the leader of one of these free towns, called the Charleston Settlement.
